Which priority group of the Try, Test and Learn Fund does your idea support?
Young carers, Young parents, Young students at risk of long-term unemployment
What need or issue are you trying to address?
We are looking at integrating everyone into society by breaking long term cycles. We work with individuals to achieve their goals. We are looking at placing, at least, 100 people per year into the Defence forces mostly indigenous although not exclusively. Working with Cerah who has all the contacts & is a master motivator, we will be using all the resources available to fulfil people’s goals. Cerah has worked in job placement and we want to improve the outcomes for everyone. With the defence force in mind, we have a fitness expert to ensure they will be able to pass the tests. Cerah is ex-army and knows how to get it done with success in this area. She has mostly worked in the country areas and is a FIFO worker.
What is your idea?
Our idea is to go on the road for 3 months at a time – working out of 2 RV’s – 1 large & 1 smaller – 1 for seminars & programs & the other for office & 1-on-1 interviews. We also will stop in to high schools along the way to address issues that may arise – choices they make, peer pressure, careers & jobs, their futures. Talking to young parents about their goals and how to balance their lives – similar for young carers. We are different in our ways of doing job placements. We listen. We also intend to bring communities together to find solutions using all the programs available to job seekers. As most country towns can be isolated, we need to do more to help these towns survive and this is how we do it.
