What need or issue are you trying to address?
For many significant social reasons very high numbers of people are unemployed or endure long-term exclusion from the workforce or face the prospect of long-term unemployment or underemployment. This issue is particularly prevalent with migrant youth. It is possible to create social enterprise based employment opportunities centred on people gaining skills to become self-sufficient with the income generated from the work carried out offsetting the wages paid to the participants.

What is your idea?
There is an opportunity to develop new social enterprises which will address the expanding events cleaning and building and garden maintenance industries. Diversitat will develop a program to work with people who have an interest in hands on vocations to create employment in social enterprise activities, specifically to develop skills and knowledge required to work in the building & gardens maintenance and events clean up services. Diversitat has experience operating a clean up and waste management team at The Falls Festival and other events. With funding Diversitat will determine a staff structure to develop new social enterprises and expand operations to include new events and building and garden maintenance services for new and existing housing providers, events and other businesses.
