Shape the future of Centrepay

Centrepay is a voluntary bill-paying service which is free for Centrelink customers. Centrelink customers can use Centrepay to arrange regular deductions from their Centrelink payment.
Centrepay reforms
Services Australia is reforming Centrepay to meet customer and business expectations and improve the efficiency and integrity of the service.
We propose to make several important changes to better protect our customers. These proposed reforms seek to bring Centrepay in line with its original purpose as a regular bill-paying service.
Centrepay reform addresses the following priorities:
- safeguards and protections for customers to reduce financial harm
- use of Centrepay as a tool for financial empowerment and self-management
- making sure the right products and services are available through Centrepay
- identifying high-risk products, services and business practices
- rules and obligations for businesses using Centrepay
- Centrepay compliance and complaints.
To understand the needs and benefits of customers, Services Australia has consulted with the following stakeholders:
- Centrepay customers
- communities
- Centrepay businesses
- consumer advocacy groups
- regulatory bodies
- state and federal government agencies.
