ICAFSS need to offer a choice of counsellors, so the most suited counsellor can be accessed for that child’s particular needs (there has only been one, limited option my jurisdiction.

An ICAFSS worker needs to be in each state and territory, so they can provide personal contact and support and are able to network with other services. Networking will help adoptive parents navigate the medical professionals they need to access for adopting kids with high needs (I.e. sensory processing occupational therapists, paediatrician’s specialising in behavioural management etc…). A national delivery of the program is not able to provide this much needed support.
