1. I understand if working for an ADE you cannot register with a disability employment service unless you resign from the ADE. I gather this is because you would be being subsidised twice – I get this but it makes it hard for those with a disability to look for other employment and means they are unlikely to find a job elsewhere and so are stuck at the ADE for ever. Giving up the ADE job on the chance you may get a job via a DES is too risky. “Normal” people can look for a new job job without giving up their current job.
2. Too much red tape for employers – my son worked for a friend doing shredding one day a week – when we moved he was keen to take on another person with a disability but the number of hoops he had to jump through as the employer to achieve this meant he gave up so a person with a disability missed out.
