It is critical that providers who are registered to assist people with a disability to find work, are ACTIVELY engaged in contacting government departments, large private enterprise organisations and small businesses, TO ADVOCATE for their clients by:
Approaching these departments & organisations AND:
– questioning equal opportunity policies.
– identifying traineeships currently available
– consulting with HR personnel to suggest opportunities, advise of funding support available to employers
– WORK TOGETHER, one to one, with the person with a disability when they apply for a position to enable them to communicate effectively & address selection criteria appropriately.
Currently, this is not happening & the NDIS clients are on their own.
