From reading the discussion paper,I think you are on the right track with carers not being aware of support services and a media campaign to help promote awareness would be beneficial. The services are hard to navigate for many carers and they need support to do this. I think it is important to incorporate existing services and their knowledge into the new model of carer support. One area highly lacking in our region is residential respite for younger adults and young people with a disability. Maybe a separate wing or section in current facilities could be allocated to young adults and children with a disability for family respite.
