Hi,

I am a 50yr old Female who is currently using the NDIS.
I am fully self Managed & I’ve had nothing but Hassles to get anything actioned.
All I’ve used so far is consumables for personal care, a few things for my wheelchair and a personal alarm for falls.
I need quite a few home mods, ramps, be able to have a shower& go to the toilet.
At the moment I bathe on a board over the bath with a garden hose & have to park my chair outside the toilet door and shimmy on one leg to get to the loo & 75% of the time having an accident !! Does this seem right ? NO.
I came home 5mths ago & still I can’t get outside unless someone is home.
My main goals are to be independent & still be able to see friends.
At the moment my OT is running the show & just keeps referring other providers, if I needed other services I would hire them myself.
I want things to flow better and not to have to jump through hoops to get anything
I am in the exact same position I was 5 mths ago.
I want to buy a $2800 chair that is suitable to get through my doorways until the mods can be done BUT I have to have a MAT test by the OT & Physio 2.5hrs ea = roughly $700 then trial it & now I’ve been told the OT won’t recommend it for me.
This chair is at a NDIS approved provider disability shop & it’s just for inside to stop anymore injuries.
SO MUCH FOR SELF MANAGED.
THIS SCHEME ISNT TO HELP US BUT TO EMPLOY & FILL PROVIDERS POCKETS.
If the OT stopped coming to my house with unfilled promises @ $174.00 hr plus travel, I’d have had the chair by now.
