What matters most to measure and report on as we seek to achieve inclusive and accessible communities for people with disability?
It is important to ensure every building or event is accessible. A lot of the time people seem to believe that people with a disability may not have a desire to go to places like nightclubs or strip clubs (for example) but the reality is they should be able to if they want to. Many places I have taken clients too have had stairs and no lift, this interrupts their right to go and at times interrupts their social time with friends.
This needs to be measured as a whole not what society believes should be accessible for a person with disabilities.
What is most important to measure and report on as we seek to achieve economic security for people with disability?
This needs to be asked openly and honestly to people with a disabilities and their families. Families are grateful for every cent they are given but they are always fighting to get it. They are tired, they shouldn’t be expected to fight for something every human is entitled too. This needs to be measured in a way that ensures that we aren’t providing just the minimum.
What is most important to measure and report on as we seek to achieve health and wellbeing outcomes for people with disability?
This needs to be measured also on the health professional providing the service, what do they get educated about in regards to disability. As a registered nurse myself, there was not a unit on disability in my Bachelor degree. I have seen nurses who are unable to communicate or know how to try with a personal with a disability. How can they provide a suitable and quality care If they are unable to even communicate with the person. That side of it needs to be investigated and improved.
What is most important to measure and report on as we seek to achieve rights, protection, justice and legislation outcomes for people with disability?

What is most important to measure and report on as we seek to achieve learning and skills outcomes for people with disability?
This area seems to be involving, as a TAFE lecturer I find having student support vital to the support of the students. Although each year student support are having more and more students enrol and struggle to provide a quality service. It would be good to measure this side as in the amount of people needing the service and the benefits of it. This service encourages student with a disability to continue their studies in an area they enjoy.
What is most important to measure and report on as we seek to achieve personal and community support outcomes for people with disability?
Financial ability to participate. Many of my clients were held back from being about to participate in the community due to money.
How often would you like to see progress against the outcomes for people with disability in the National Disability Strategy and the National Disability Insurance Scheme reported?
The fact that NDIS believes people with a disability are ‘an investment’ to insure is alarming. My sister had complex disabilities and her abilities were not going to improve, her level of care would remain complex and require same or more amount of money every year. People with a disability are not investments they are people with rights, they did not choose to have to live in a world where a government body should invest in them so that they will one day no longer need financial support.
Yes the outcomes and quality of lives should be measured, an annual report would be great.
Is there anything else that you think should be considered when we are monitoring and measuring the impact of activities on people with disability?
