Hi. After working in the DSW field for just over 3 years I believe there should be standards for the workers as well as the NDIS participants. For example having kilometre capacity for shifts however the shift being 50 kilometres away. By having this arbitrary numbers like “25k’s a shift” it creates a sense of panic and stress in the participants as well as the workers. I have worked many shifts where a service user had a doctors appointment outside the 25km limit and had to call HR, rostering and get approval before going. These are unmeasurable hurdles that could simply be taken out and would benefit all parties involved.
