The NDIA should not presume to communicate with participants in the same way. Many participants are deaf or hard of hearing. A common issue relating to the NDIS Deaf Victoria is informed by the community that the NDIA and LAC providers continue to make repeated voice calls to deaf and hard of hearing participants. This is despite being informed to communicate only through SMS/text or email services. Thus, Deaf Victoria agrees with the four engagement princples set out in the PSG, however, stronger accountabilities need to be made if the NDIA is found to be in breach of those principles.
