Review of Financial Wellbeing and Capability programs

The Department of Social Services (the department) is seeking feedback on the current suite of programs funded under the Financial Wellbeing and Capability (FWC) Activity. FWC programs include Emergency Relief, Food Relief, Commonwealth Financial Counselling and Financial Capability and Financial Resilience programs.

This Consultation is the final stage of a review of the FWC Activity the department has been undertaking in 2023.

The review is considering current issues and challenges for FWC programs, what is working well and opportunities for improvements, to achieve better outcomes for people accessing FWC services.

The Consultation Paper includes existing evidence and data and reflects what the department has already heard from extensive targeted engagement with clients, community services organisations, governments and other stakeholders.

We encourage individuals and organisations to submit feedback. Providing a submission will help shape the design of future FWC programs, service delivery and new grant arrangements commencing 1 July 2025.
