Which priority group of the Try, Test and Learn Fund does your idea support?
Young carers, Young parents, Young students at risk of long-term unemployment
What need or issue are you trying to address?
NCIE has worked with Indigenous jobseekers in Hospitality for over 10 years. We are observing a gap between medium-size interested employers and interested jobseekers. There is no platform that connects the two. Furthermore, significant mentoring is required to transition Indigenous jobseekers with complex barriers to employment into the roles and to stay there. We have also observed that Facebook is one of the most used modes of communication between staff and participants.
What is your idea?
A dual level model, combining intensive and holistic support by Indigenous staff, alongside a digital platform that connects jobseekers with culturally-engaged employers in Hospitality (as a start) and builds jobseeking skills.
