Ndis Submission food for thought. subject Change. My Initial thoughts when i first came across the ndis, was confusion. How? Why now? and skeptical. So I took the time and read a fair bit of the fine print. I then watched what a dear friend of the family went through after having a stroke that debilitated him and his whole world. He went from Decent Job , own home, nice car etc , lost his mum and had a stroke and lost the lot. 62 in hospital can walk , barely talk. Homeless. No where to go. then finally Ndis Came to his aide. Fast forward to my idea. my submission There are quite a few houses that have sat empty for 18 months, like the one our friend was placed in. Huge well set out 4 to 6 bedroom new modern homes, sitting waiting to be tenanted. I since learnt Many Private investors, that had huge hopes and garentees laid infront of them to in vest invest. some then couple years later filing for bank ruptsy , because of one reason or another the rents garentess just didnt eventuated, they were hit with rates n taxs etc , the normal stuff on investment propertys. Would it be in best interests of everyone if the homes are empty any longer then 3 months then a family tbrough housing could secure a 6 month lease. then near 6 monrh mark the ndis is assed to have found tenants through ndis to tenant if not 12 month lease offered to that family. goverenment can garentee the rent for upto 2yrs in some instances. it would be and all round good decent choice for all involved. could even bring hope back into many family homes too. or we can sit back and wait for those familys faced with homelessness to eventually surcome to disability because of sub standard sublets theyve had to endure, to stay together and to have somewhere to call home.
