Developing the National Autism Strategy – Register for community events
Community engagement to inform the National Autism Strategy is happening online and in each state and territory.
Autistic people, their families and carers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to register for events using the links in the schedule below. The links will take you to an event registration page that includes more information about each event. In each location, there are two types of events:
- Community forum: this event is for anyone in the local community and is suitable for Autistic people and their families, people who care for Autistic people, support workers, local organisations and other stakeholders with an interest in the Strategy.
- Autistic Voices forum: this event is only open to Autistic people. It is a small event (up to 20 people) and will be an open discussion forum.
Due to capacity limits, places are limited. If you miss out on securing a ticket, you can request to be put on the waiting list when you register.
There is also a webinar and online workshops you can register for (listed in the below table).
The events are being coordinated by engagement specialists, The Social Deck. If you have questions or need help to register, you can contact The Social Deck at engage@thesocialdeck.com or on 0458 228 142.

Targeted discussions
A series of targeted discussions and events are also being held with Autistic people, and families or carers, to understand specific experiences and perspectives of:
- First Nations Autistic people
- Autistic people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Autistic women and girls
- Autistic people that identify as LGBTQIA+
- Autistic children, and young adults
- older Autistic people
- Autistic people with common co-occurring neurotypes and conditions, including but not limited to Autistic people with intellectual disability, Autistic people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autistic people with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) such as dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia.
- Autistic people with additional and/or complex support needs including communication needs.
These discussions are exploring particular experiences and what needs to be in a National Autism Strategy to help address barriers that can be experienced by diverse populations and intersectional groups.
These are being run in collaboration with representative and advocacy organisations at a national and state and territory level.
